how I came up with these rates


My grant writing rates are built around a commission, which allows me to keep my fees accessible to artists.

If you’d prefer to pay a flat fee, I’m happy to come up with a quote based on the time it will take to complete the work. I charge $60/hour for writing and editing services. 


sliding scale


I understand that many artists don’t have the resources to pay a large fee, and I accept sliding scale for initial payments.

Note: the following rates are based on applications of approximately 2000 words (for example: Canada Council for the Arts’ Research and Creation grants). For shorter or longer applications, I will adjust accordingly.


option #1: 
two zoom/phone meetings, and two rounds of edits. 

In the first meeting we’ll work from your notes or draft, and focus on clarifying and organizing your ideas. In the second we’ll fine tune the writing and strategize about support material and budget. 

$500 initial payment and 5% of the final grant if it’s awarded


option #2: 
one zoom/phone meeting, and one round of edits. 

I’ll do a round of substantive edits of your draft proposal. In the meeting, I’ll focus on strengthening the written proposal and give general feedback. If there’s time, we can look at your images and budget. 

$250 initial payment and 2.5% of the final grant if it’s awarded
